It is the mission of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to safeguard the District of Columbia and protect its residents and visitors by providing the highest quality of police service with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to innovation that integrates people, technology and progressive business systems. The Metropolitan Police Department is responsible for apprehending and charging adult and juvenile criminals within the District. The top 5 causes of juvenile arrests that occurred during last 5 years are tracked at the District level. This report is updated weekly.

ABOUT THE DATA

This report is based on the data from the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Arrest database maintained by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The dataset reflects arrests made by all agencies in the District of Columbia. MPD makes over 90% of the arrests in the District. One person may be booked on more than one arrest charge. Currently locations for juvenile arrests and reports by ward are not available. 2009 values represent year-to-date information.
