Violent and Property Crimes (last 3 years)

It is the mission of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to safeguard the District of Columbia and protect its residents and visitors by providing the highest quality of police service with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to innovation that integrates people, technology and progressive business systems. The Metropolitan Police Department is responsible for keeping a record of known offenses for public and private information purposes. Combined violent and property crimes that occured during the last 3 years are tracked at the District and ward level. This report is updated weekly.

ABOUT THE DATA

This report is based on the offense data from Analytical Services Application (ASAP) crime report database maintained by the Metropolitan Police Department. All statistics presented here are based on preliminary DC index crime data and does not reflect official UCR data. Data reflects crimes reported at least two business days before today's date. DC Index property crimes include arson, burglary, stolen auto, theft and theft from auto. DC Index violent crimes include assault with a deadly weapon (ADW), homicide, robbery and sex abuse. 2009 values represent year-to-date information.
